Officine Meccaniche (OM) was founded in 1899 in Milan, Italy to manufacture railway rolling stock. Over the years the evolution of OM changed the history of Italy’s industrial growth. OM was initially well known in the railway and transport industry for building locomotives and rolling stock but later branched into earth moving equipment, trucks, cars and a multitude of specialist equipment for widespread everyday use throughout the world of logistics. OM today is not just famous for its history of creating great products but for having created history over time.

Through the sheer genius, passion and above all the commitment of a small group of people, OM was able to achieve many historic milestones along the way. The OM badge stood out strong on the car that won the very first Mille Miglia race. It also shone bright on the legendary Italian railway locomotive, the 851 model, which was first introduced in 1898; the last model was finally withdrawn from service in 1971. Three highly successful and long-lasting models, the Leoncino, (Baby Lion) Tigrotto, (Baby Tiger) and Lupetto, (Baby Wolf) were part of the first Italian light truck range to combine strength, performance and a modern design. All of these success stories emerged from the OM stable itself

Today the historical Italian brand OM which is over 100 years is the trusted name in material handling equipment across the world, owned by KION Group AG. In 2017 OM collaborated with VOLTAS, a leading Indian brand since over 70 years to enter the Indian market. Today OM VOLTAS owned by KION India is the leading brand in the Indian MHE market.
